Yes,
you will be able to access the domain name with or without the letters
WWW in front. Many web hosting providers do not provide this capability.
For example, you can access the domain name "mydomain.com" by
going to "www.mydomain.com" as well as "mydomain.com".
Do you offer dial-up internet access?
No,
you will need a local internet access provider (ISP, internet service provider)
in order to service your web site and retrieve e-mail sent to your site.
Providing a specialized Virtual Server service (or IPP, internet presence
provider service) means that we do not have hundreds of modems to maintain,
thus enabling us to devote more time to our customers' web presence needs
and to enhancements of the entire Virtual Server System. On our servers,
no bandwidth is lost to ISP, thus ensuring rapid access to your site even
during peak usage hours.
Do
you support MS Frontpage Server
Extensions?
Yes,
MS FrontPage 2000 Extensions are available upon request on all of our
domain accounts. MS Front Page 98 can also still be used. The Extensions
consume a considerable amount of disk space, but remember that many FrontPage
webs can be hosted without the extensions which enable certain advanced
features.

Can
I upgrade from a
Economy or Business Account to a Professional Account?
No. The
Professional Account domain will have to be configured from the start
as if it were a brand new account. There is a $75
(£45)
setup fee. Any unused rent will be credited to the new account.
Please keep in mind that since your site will move to a new server your
IP address will also change.
Can
I upgrade from a Economy Account to a Business Account?
Yes.
You can upgrade from a Economy Account to a Business Account at any time
for a transfer fee of $15 (£9). We will also pass on any monthly rental
credit toward your new Account.
Can I check domain name availability?
You can check
domain availability direct from our registry site at https://ammonet.nameservices.net.
Does
ammonet
handle domain registration?
ammonet
can register new domain names for you or you can register .com, .net. org
and .info domains via our registry at https://ammonet.nameservices.net. The relevant InterNIC will bill
you directly for your annual registration. We do not charge for
actually carrying out the registration process with the American or Swiss
InterNIC and some others. For the details, please refer to Domain
Name Registration.
Can
I transfer an existing domain name to ammonet?
Yes.
When you place an order for a Virtual Server, please be sure to specify
that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. You should keep
the service at the present site while waiting for InterNIC to complete
the transfer. If you do not know how to change the dns entries for your
domain, please authorise us to do that for you.
How long does it take before my domain name is
active?
Once
the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred,
if applicable), it usually takes about 24-72 hours before it is active. All
internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new
site locations. This is called propagation.
Does
ammonet
limit the number of hits I can receive per month?
No.
Our experience has shown that 300 to 500 MB/month is more than enough
data transfer for 90(+)% of all websites and we use it as a bench mark.
Depending on the quantity and size of your files, 1000MB could support
many thousands of hits per week. If your site begins to exceed several
gigabytes of data transfer each month, we will contact you about upgrading
so performance doesn't suffer.
How do I transfer files to my web site?
Files
must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP).
Internet providers such as AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy may have a built-in
FTP interface. ammonet offers
unlimited FTP access.
Will I have unlimited access to update my pages
?
You
have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create
and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your
web site at your convenience.
Can multiple domains point to the same HTML files
?
In
general, if you have more than one domain account at ammonet
we can point each domain address to the same HTML files. With our Business
Account, we allow three additional domain names pointing to your
virtual server.
Can I use my account for commercial purposes ?
Yes,
you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has
become a most efficient and cost-effective means of making information,
products and services available to the users of the internet community. ammonet Virtual Server secure
processing is available FREE using SSL and PGP to provide an environment
whereby payment information (such as a credit card number) or confidential
information (such as a custom form) can be transmitted from web browser
to web server in an encrypted mode. We also provide a completely configurable
on-line shop to our Business and Professional Account customers, and a

Can I resell space within my own account ?
Yes.
You can resell space within your account. However, you will be responsible
for its content and data transfer. A Economy Account or Business Account
will allow you to resell subdirectories (non-domain accounts) only. If
you are going to resell domain accounts, you will need a Professional
Account. This is a much more powerful solution that allows you to partition
cgi and ftp directories for your customers as well as to partition virtual
hosting directories. We will bill you our fees and you can charge your
customer what you wish.

What contract and payment terms are available?
We
bill quarterly and do not require a minimum contract beyond the initial

you offer technical support to your clients ?

We encourage our customers to consult the Cpanel on-line Help
documentation and the sources listed on our Support
page, and if
they do not find the information they are looking for, to send e-mail
to us with questions
or concerns about their web site. We are relatively quick to respond to
support e-mail.
How long does it take to set up a new account ?
Orders
for servers will be configured within 48 hours, and usually it will be
done the same day. Once an account is set up, an activation notice will
be sent to you via e-mail including a User ID, password and FTP hostname.
You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately.
